Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I am proud to officially announce my campaign for re-election to the Saint Paul City Council. We have accomplished a lot over the last three years, but there is still much to do to make our city a more vibrant place to live and work. I am excited about what our future holds and I would be honored to continue to represent our neighborhood and the entire city for another term as your councilmember.
Since being elected I have strived to be an advocate for our neighborhood, as well as lead our city into the future.
- As chair of the Saint Paul Public Library Board, we opened the newly renovated Highland Park Library, added nearly $1 million to the collection budget, and increased library hours across the city.
- I have been a strong and successful advocate for long-term infrastructure investment, including securing funding for the reconstruction of the Highland Village streetscape, arterial road reconstruction and repair, and increasing our investment in replacing our old and outdated water pipes.
- I led the city effort to prepare our future workforce for employment, through the creation of the award-winning Right Track Program—a public-private partnership that aligns Saint Paul youth with professional internships and job training.
I am proud of our accomplishments, but we still have a lot to do. If reelected, I will continue to advocate for our neighborhood on public safety issues, infrastructure investment, and our libraries. I will work to modernize our transportation system to include mass transit options, bicycle options, and make much-needed improvements to our city roads. Saint Paul’s greatest economic tool is its people, and I will work to ensure that we have a workforce that meets the needs of the 21st century.
I will also continue to lead on the redevelopment of the Ford site. This is a project that can strengthen our community and region for generations to come. We are just beginning to set the stage for a development that includes strong transportation planning for the site and the surrounding neighborhood, vibrant housing options, sustainability, well-paying jobs, and abundant open space.
It has been an honor and a privilege to represent our neighborhood and the city. I hope that my commitment to our neighborhood and city has earned your support for another term. I will again be seeking the DFL endorsement, and I encourage you to join me at precinct caucuses on the evening of Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Highland Park Junior High School.
It’s an exciting time for our neighborhood and our city. Together, we can ensure our city continues to embrace the things that have made Saint Paul special for decades, while planning for the things that will keep our neighborhood and city strong for future generations.
I ask for your support, and I hope that you will join me in my re-election campaign to continue the momentum in our neighborhood and city.
